Campaign kickoff set for Saturday, March 31
Pensacola mayoral candidate Drew Buchanan will host a campaign kickoff event and fundraiser at 6 p.m. Saturday in Pensacola’s Long Hollow neighborhood.
“I’ve always believed that democracy is best practiced face to face, so I’m excited about hosting the first of many public events across our city,” said Buchanan. “This campaign will be about what direction we go in as a City. The tone and vision of leadership at the top of city government matters, and it’s important that we elect someone who will represent all Pensacolians, not just some of them.”
A seventh-generation Floridian, Buchanan is a former U.S. Air Force combat correspondent and current small business owner in Pensacola. Among his priorities as mayor will be to make Pensacola the best place in America to start or grow a business, to infuse transparency into every corner of City Hall, to reduce the burden of taxes and fees on our working-class families, and to make investments in infrastructure across all of our neighborhoods.
Buchanan is the only candidate for mayor who has pledged not to accept campaign contributions from corporations, PACs, and special interest groups.
“Elections should be won by the campaign with the best ideas, not the deepest pockets,” Buchanan said. “This is a grassroots, people-powered campaign, and talking to Pensacolians, hearing about their needs and ideas, and working to earn their votes is more important than raising the most money. That is the lesson I will take with me around the city on this campaign.”
“This kickoff event will set the stage for the campaign to come,” Buchanan added. “I will lay out a ‘Plan for Pensacola’ which addresses the major issues and challenges we face and present a vision of local government which works for all Pensacolians.”
Complimentary refreshments will be provided and guests can RSVP at facebook.com/drewforpensacola/events.
